GOLF MANITOBA ANNOUNCES NEW PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS


(Winnipeg MB Tuesday, October 20th / 09) – Golf Manitoba is pleased to announce the election of a new President of the Association as well as a new Board composition following the association’s Annual General Meeting held on October 19th at the Elmhurst Country Club. They include the following members who have been elected to new two-year terms:

Harvey Goehring is a graduate from the University of Saskatchewan with a BSA (Bachelor of Science in Agriculture) degree and a certificate in Management Development from the University of Calgary.

He retired 3 years ago after a working career with Pioneer Grain, the Canadian Wheat Board, and the Executive Director, Manitoba Institute of Agrologists.

Harvey has extensive volunteer experience with 15 years on the Board of Breezy Bend Country Club as Chair of Junior Development, Play & Rules, Secretary and President in 2000 & 2001. He became involved with Golf Manitoba as a Club Representative and has been a tournament volunteer for 16 years in the capacity of starting/scoring and a Rules Official.

Harvey joined the Golf Manitoba Board in 2003 and has chaired the Player Development, Tournament and Membership committees. He has also accompanied the Willingdon Cup Team to the Canadian Men’s Amateur in 2007, 2008 & 2009.

“As a not for profit association, Golf Manitoba relies on dedicated volunteers who are willing to give of their time and skills to help us carry out our work,” said Harvey Goehring, president of Golf Manitoba. “We thank them for agreeing to serve on our Board and look forward to their positive contributions in helping us grow and develop the game of golf in Manitoba and North West Ontario.”

The following people were elected at the 2008 Annual General Meeting for a two year term and therefore were not required to be re-elected:

Golf Manitoba is the governing body for golf in the province of Manitoba and Northwest Ontario. Its mission is to develop, promote, govern and service the game of golf in Manitoba and Northwest Ontario for the benefit of all participants.
