GOLF CANADA TO INSTITUTE CHANGES TO EQUITABLE STROKE CONTROL

The RCGA Handicap & Course Rating Committee recently approved a change to the long-standing Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) method, bringing the Canadian methodology into equivalency with current ESC calculations employed by the United States Golf Association (USGA).

Golf Manitoba is offering Winter Rules Sessions for those who want to learn more.

No prior knowledge is required, just come and learn in a relaxed setting with those of a similar interest.

Session dates for 2012 are:

January 11 - St. Boniface Golf Club
February 1 - Rossmere Country Club
March 15 - St. Charles Country Club
April 12 - Southwood Golf & Country Club

The sessions run from 7:00 - 9:30 pm and are free of charge.

Winnipeg, MB Tuesday, October 18th / 11) Breezy Bend Country Club's Jesse Skelton was awarded the Golf Manitoba Amateur Golfer of the Year Award for the first time at Golf Manitoba's Annual Awards Dinner at the Southwood Golf & Country Club.


 

GOLF CANADA APPROVES FUNDS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF WOMEN'S GOLF

(Winnipeg, MB Wednesday, October 19, 2011) Golf Manitoba is pleased to announce that Golf Canada has approved a $5400 grant from the Women's Fund to support women's initiatives and programs that have a significant impact on women's golf in Manitoba and North West Ontario. To qualify for the grant, Golf Manitoba's player development program focused on the long term development and player competitive experience with fourteen junior women commencing in December 2010 and culminating with National and Western Canada Games competition in August 2011. These young ladies comprised the association's Nassau Team (which competed in weekly matches against high performance women from member clubs in Winnipeg) and Western Canada Games Training squad.


 

FINALISTS NAMED FOR GOLF MANITOBA AMATEUR GOLFER OF THE YEAR

The Golf Manitoba Selection Committee has announced four finalists for the 2011 Amateur Golfer of the Year Award, which will be presented during the annual general meeting and awards dinner on Oct. 18th at the Southwood Golf & Country Club.

The four nominees, in alphabetical order are: Winnie Hyun of Southwood, Jesse Skelton of Breezy Bend, Myles Sullivan of Portage and Josh Wytinck of Pine Ridge.
